It will depend not only on whether you are invited to the interview but also on the job itself, on how responsibly you approach the preparation of a resume.
How to make a resume?
These tips will help you understand the structure of your resume (CV, curriculum vitae) so that your employer can quickly find the necessary information about you. To create the most detailed resume that will “sell” you to your employer use our advice.
- Contact details
Include as much contact information as possible so that the employer can easily contact you. Add one or two phone numbers and an email address. Do not leave your work e-mail address or address with a nice “home name” (for example, [email protected]). If you do not have a personal address that contains your name in the title, it is better to specifically create it for your job search. It is also advisable to add a link to your social network page, for example, LinkedIn professional network.
- Summary
Immediately after your name, write down two or three short phrases in which you show all your advantages as a candidate. Do not write common words. Identify your strongest professional qualities that are directly related to future work, for example, extensive experience in this field or knowledge of several languages, and concisely state them. This item is very important because the employer spends no more than 20 seconds on each resume, respectively, you need to capture his attention at the first moment.
- Skills
If you want to write a resume correctly, then in this section provide a small list of your professional knowledge and skills. Simply write exactly what you can do. At the same time, start from the list of requirements and functional duties prescribed in the vacancy. For example, if, according to the vacancy, you will have to create advertising campaigns, list specific skills: “Media Planning”, “Budgeting Advertising Campaigns”, “Ability to work with contractors”, etc. If you are in doubt what better skills to indicate in a resume, look at the finished CVs of candidates from your field on various job portals, it is possible that you will find a lot of tips.
- Education
This may include your school, where you have received higher education, as well as all the major training, seminars, programs that you additionally took. If you have visited a huge number of such events, experts advise you to select only those that are truly worthwhile and close to your profession. The employer will not waste time and grasp on a long list of your cooking courses, and may not notice an important seminar that will add weight to you as a specialist.
- Experience
Your career path is best described in reverse chronological order, from the last place of work to the current. Then everything should be arranged as follows: after the name of the place of work, it is better immediately to register your key achievements in the company. These should be specific examples of what you have achieved at your previous job. “Increased productivity by 30%”, Reduced company expenses”, “Established a system of cooperation between departments”, “Successfully managed a team of 50 people” and ect.
Describing your achievements, do not forget about the principle of SMART. Everything that you write should be specific, measurable, relevant and limited in time. Only then write down your duties. Avoid common phrases and focus on specific tasks. Prescribing duties, describe them from the largest duties to smaller ones. Remember that your goal is to impress the employer from the first lines by showing a professional resume.
- Additional information
Here, the employer expects to see information about your knowledge of languages, a description of computer skills, additional work experience, and not directly related to your professional activity (for example, volunteering). In some cases, it also contains information about the presence of a driver’s license.
If you are not sure how best to structure the information on your own, you can use some resume template and samples. Also, examples of resumes are in the professional network LinkedIn.
